Flooded

Yesterday I posted about “thank you” being my “one thing to do” for the day.  Which got me thinking more broadly about thankfulness.  Graduate school has been for me, in many ways, a pretty rocky road.

But as I get ready to graduate this  weekend, I find myself flooded with gratitude.  I am so deeply grateful to my mentors for believing in me and my writing.  So thankful for the incredible friends who have become so important in my life.

Thankful even for this past year, when my work took place mostly off campus.  At this time last year, I was ready to be done and resented the prospect of yet one more year.  But without it, I wouldn’t have had the distance to find this gratitude.

And gratitude can be profound.  I used the word “flooded” on purpose.  I feel overwhelmed by my gratefulness.
